Fay Walls
Chair of Trustees
I have been coming to Acorn Community Care as a volunteer gardener since September 2021 having found that retirement was a bit boring sometimes!
What I have found since starting is that I love encouraging the people we support to plant seeds so that they can enjoy the pleasure in the process of planting, growing and reaping. This year we have produced some enormous parsnips, grown from seed which are a sight to behold and are one example of the produce grown here at Acorn Farm but the list is endless!
I was approached at the end of December by Chris (CEO) about becoming a Trustee. It had become apparent that not only my gardening skills but my rapport with the people who use our day care services were noticed by all and everyone felt that I could play an active role in the long-term future of the charity by becoming a Trustee. I happily accepted, as I believe I can help with the development of the charity and that I would be a good advocate for the people who use our services.
I thoroughly enjoy coming to Acorn Community Care. Being outside with the team on the farm is a very worthwhile project. I wanted to give something back to the community, specifically Acorn Community Care
