Harry Bray
Service Manager
I started working for Acorn Community Care in August 2020 in the middle of the global pandemic. I started my first week as a Senior Support Worker and Values Lead.
I can truly say that my first week was very overwhelming as I was “blown away” by the outstanding care being provided, I was immediately made to feel a part of the “Acorn Family”
I was empowered from the start by the other managers to become involved in making a big impact to the people’s lives we support and our employees too.
After only working for the charity for six months I knew I wanted to build a career within Acorn and when a Service Manager role was advertised, I jumped at the chance and was successful in my application. With my colleagues Jo Harrison and Nicky Storr, we manage a team of amazing, dedicated, hardworking Support Staff, without whom we would not be able to provide the bespoke care that we do to the people that access our services.
I feel very fortunate in the role I do because each day, our staff support each person in our care to chase their dreams and empower them to accomplish things they never thought they could. You could say it’s a bit of a ‘family affair’ for me as my partner also works for Acorn and often, I bring my two sons down to the farm and to meet the people we support.
This gives me great job satisfaction I have worked in health and social care for the last fourteen years and in all that time never felt a sense of belonging until I started working for this charity
